Behind or messy books?

With a monthly plan, each month cleaned up costs the same as a month of bookkeeping.

Example: Small, 4 months behind = 4 × $250 = $1,000, then $250 a month.

Staying current costs about 17% less than catching up once a year, and you get clean books and reports every month instead of once a year.

Books Diagnostic

Every new client starts here, including businesses whose books are already up to date. You get a written summary of what's wrong in your books (or confirmation that they're clean), your size, and your flat-price quote. Paid when you book, and credited to your first invoice if you start within 30 days of receiving your diagnostic.

Oby Accounting Solutions is run by an accountant with more than 10 years of corporate accounting experience, specializing in month-end close and reconciliations, fixed assets, and lease accounting.

That background means your books are kept to the same standard a larger company's would be: reconciled, documented, and ready for whoever needs to rely on them, whether that's your CPA or tax preparer or your lender.

Oby Accounting Solutions is an independent practice. The accountant who reviews your books is the one who does the work. Start with a Books Diagnostic and judge the results for yourself.

Common questions

Before you ask

How do I know my size?

A transaction is one line on your bank or credit card statement. Your average transactions per month and your number of bank and credit card accounts set your size. If the two point to different sizes, the larger one applies. Your diagnostic confirms your size before you're quoted.

Why does cleanup-only cost more?

Staying current should always cost less than falling behind. With a monthly plan, each month cleaned up costs the same as a month of bookkeeping. Cleanup-only work is 20% more, with a $600 minimum.

What if I'm more than 12 months behind?

Each month is billed at your rate for up to 12 months. Earlier periods, or books with payroll, inventory, or more than one company, are quoted individually after your diagnostic. You always get the flat price before work starts.

Will my price go up during the project?

No. Your signed quote is your price, as long as your books match what the diagnostic found. If something significant turns up, like extra accounts or missing records, or you ask for more work, you get a quote and give your OK before it's done.

How long does a cleanup take?

As a guide, plan on 2 to 6 weeks after QuickBooks access and your statements are received, depending on how many months are behind and your transaction volume. Your quote states the timeline.

How do I pay?

By bank transfer (ACH) or card, through a secure online invoice. Cleanups are billed half when you sign and half when we deliver; your final summary and financial statements are sent once the final payment is received. Monthly plans are billed at the start of each month on autopay. Cancel anytime with 30 days' notice.

What do you need from me?

For the diagnostic, access to your QuickBooks that you control and can remove at any time. For the work, Accountant user access, your bank and credit card statements, and answers to a short list of questions. We never ask for your bank or QuickBooks passwords. If information is outstanding for 30 days, the project pauses until it arrives.

Do you prepare tax returns?

No. Oby Accounting Solutions is not a CPA firm. Clean, tax-ready books and financial statements go to your CPA or tax preparer, which can make tax time faster and simpler.

What's the difference between a bookkeeper, an accountant, and a CPA?

The titles overlap, and what's included varies from firm to firm. In general, bookkeeping keeps your transactions recorded and your accounts reconciled. Accounting adds month-end adjustments, closing the books, and financial reporting. A CPA is an accountant licensed by the state and is the only one who can perform audits and reviews; many CPA firms focus on tax returns and those services.

We do both bookkeeping and accounting work every month, at a flat price, and deliver tax-ready books to your CPA or tax preparer.
